What We Believe
Education should ignite curiosity, not extinguish it.
At The Silversword Institute, we prioritise debate, oral examination, and critical dialogue, equipping students to become articulate, confident communicators in a world reshaped by AI. We take what little works in the current system and transform it into a new way of learning: one that strengthens literacy, sharpens reasoning, and prepares young people for real success.
Our Founder & Principal
The Silversword Institute was founded by Tabitha Wells, an experienced educator and tutor with a background in English Literature, Language, and Theatre Studies.
With almost a decade in teaching and academic coaching, she has guided GCSE, A-Level, and university students to achieve outstanding results. GCSE grades rising to 7–9, A-Levels at A–A*, and every A-Level student achieving their first-choice university. On average, her students improve by at least two grades.
Beyond the classroom, she brings expertise in content, storytelling, and digital strategy, having led projects with major global brands.
This unique blend of academic and professional experience inspired her to rethink education itself, creating a future-facing model that values debate, discernment, and creativity as much as traditional achievement.
As Principal, she leads The Silversword Institute with a commitment to excellence, innovation, and preparing students for success in a rapidly changing world.
Our Approach
At The Silversword Institute, we believe education must evolve to meet the challenges of the AI age. To demonstrate true understanding, students must go beyond memorisation or machine-generated answers: they must be able to think, reason, and communicate independently.
That’s why we prioritise oral examination and debate across all subjects. By engaging in structured dialogue with teachers and peers, students learn to synthesise ideas, defend arguments, and listen to perspectives different from their own. This emphasis on critical conversation develops both intellectual depth and empathy.
Alongside this, we focus on mastery of the written word, ensuring students can construct arguments and express ideas with clarity, precision, and originality, without relying on AI.
Our approach blends academic rigour with real-world skills, preparing students to be confident thinkers and communicators in a rapidly changing world.
